There are countless ways to proof multiple fonts or styles, and Font Proofer supports many of the most popular ones. The features described on this page work with a variety of use cases—such as comparing different styles from the same family, different families, or different versions of the same style.
Many more features are planned, including the ability to change the font style for individual words. Some of those features are on the public roadmap.
<aside> 💬 Terminology: “Font Style” Colloquially, the terms “font” and “style” can refer to different things in a digital context. As much as possible, Font Proofer uses the term “font style” precisely to refer to an exported font file, a single-style UFO, or a Master or Instance in a Glyphs project.

The Font Picker is where you add, remove, and organize font styles for your proof. Open it by clicking on the button beside the Fonts: label.
The ➕ add button allows you to choose a font file—or, if you installed a Companion Plugin, a style from an open Glyphs or RoboFont project.
Drag and drop font files (ex: .otf, .ttf) anywhere into the proof’s main window or the Font Picker.
Reorder font styles by dragging them in the list.
A font style’s ☑️ checkbox controls whether the style is included in your exported proof PDF(s). Disabling it only has an effect when proofing multiple font styles.
Right-click a font style for additional options.
